By editing the properties of any existing Dashboard you can change description and availability to other users under the respective Organization Units. 

Preconditions for Editing Dashboard Properties: 

  • To Edit Dashboards, the Web > Agent or Service role needs to be granted within Role Based Access - RBAC to either a Supervisor or Agent user
  • Only a System Administrator or the current board owner can edit Dashboard properties. → See Re-Assinging Ownership chapter below.
  • Supervisors can set a board to "Public"
To access the properties, open any dashboard and click the "Dashboard Properties" icon.

Organization Unit visibility

To make a board visible to a specific Organization Unit (OU) only, select it from the menu.

Unlike the usual "inheritance" in all LUCS data objects the Dashboards are an exception. They will be available ONLY specifically to the Organization Unit you assign them to, and not inheriting to any units below.

  • The thought process behind this is to make boards available to only very specific audiences and keeping visual clutter limited to when the OU is actually selected (and made available to the user).

Public Dashboard

By default you can see only your own boards, but set them Public to make them accessible to all users within the OU specified.

(info) Note that Dashboard Widgets included within the public boards will display content only in relation to the viewing user's permissions, so the board can show different contents to to various agents.

Re-Assingning Ownership

(tick) To assign ownership you either need to be System Administrator or have the "Web" Administration role assigned via Role Based Access - RBAC.

You can pass along ownership of your boards to one specific LUCS user.

Please Note: 

The user receiving ownership of the Dashboard needs at least the "Web Agent / Web Service" Agent role. If the new user does not have this role, a warning is shown:

If you still chose to assign the board, the user may not see it until the according role is assigned.

(lightbulb) Alternatively the board may still be accessed by an Administrator and reassigned to another user.

(warning) Please note that the same Organization Unit visibility rule as described above applies for the new owner. The board visibility will not inherit down. To make the board visible to the new owner, either assign it to the corresponding OU or grant the according OU permissions to that user.
