Overview
This article provides step-by-step instructions on how to remove a Microsoft Entra ID synchronized user security group from your recording system. Its important to follow this process to ensure the correct removal of users and not have any issues with users or groups becoming stuck in the Luware Recording platform.
This process needs to be followed due to the fail-safe nature of the Luware Recording platform. In the event where a group is removed unintentionally, the Luware Recording system will not delete or de-activate users as part of the fail-safe function.
Fail-Close Policy?
For customers that have a fail-close type Microsoft Teams Compliance Recording policy applied to their users, it is imperative to remove the policy before removing any users from Luware Recording. Otherwise users will not be able complete their Microsoft Teams calls due to the policies behaviour.
How To Remove the Group
1. Identify what type of group you are removing
- Recorded Group: Members of this group will have been granted the Microsoft Teams Compliance Policy and be enabled in Luware Recording for capture and archive. These are licensed users in the Luware Recording system.
- Supervisor Group: Members of this group have access to the captured conversations of the Recorded Users.
-
Administrators: Members of this group can access the underlying configuration of the Luware Recording environment.
If the group you are removing is a Supervisor or Administrator, you can proceed to step 3. For a recorded user group, please follow the steps below
2. Log in to the Microsoft Entra ID portal
Login to the Microsoft Entra ID portal with an account that has the appropriate permissions.
- Navigate to the groups page
- Find the group you want to delete
- Click into this group and view it's members
- Select all members and remove them from the group
You can wait until the following day to allow the recording system to synchronize overnight, or you can raise a support ticket with Luware to manually run a sync to remove the users from the group on the recording system if the change is urgent.
3. Delete the Entra ID group
Once the group has synced and the users have been removed, you can return to the Entra portal and delete the security group.
4. Inform Luware of the deletion
When the group has been deleted, you will need to raise a support ticket with Luware to request that the Active Directory Synchronization be disabled.
You can raise a support ticket informing Luware through our HelpDesk here - https://support.luware.com
