The Nimbus Companion Knowledge Assistant is integrated into the Nimbus Companion Interface, where users can ask questions about Luware Nimbus using natural language. It acts as an AI assistant specialized in Nimbus product knowledge, providing answers directly within the Companion experience and serving as the first direct support available through the interface.
✅Preconditions
-
Companion Knowledge Assistant becomes automatically available as a baseline feature, once the Companion Interface preconditions are met.
⮑ A Companion Icon appears in the User/Admin Portal main menu. All users can immediately start to ask Nimbus-related questions. - The feature is license-free to use.
💡Good to know:
The Companion Knowledge Assistant uses the live Nimbus Knowledge Base as its source. It gets gets updated shortly after each Nimbus update, usually alongside an update to our Latest Release Notes. You can ask it about the newest or upcoming features to get a head-start on new features added to Nimbus.
Additionally the Companion retrieves updates from https://status.luware.com/. You can ask about planned or ongoing maintenance windows and current service uptime.
View Modes
Companion offers different view modes so you can choose the layout that best fits your workflow. You can select either view directly from the Companion button drop-down in the main menu:

The views operate as follows:

-
Full Screen (default): Companion opens as a full-screen overlay within the Portal, showing both your chat history and the active chat.
💡This is the standard view when you click the Companion button.

-
Split Screen: Companion is docked as a vertical panel, anchored to the right edge of the window. Your Nimbus page will remain open, filling the remaining space on the left.
💡Good to know:- The panel spans the full height of the viewport and opens at a default width of 40%. You can adjust the width via drag handles.
- The Split Screen state stays in place as you navigate between pages in the Nimbus application, keeping Companion's step-by-step guidance visible while you work.

During an ongoing Chat
While the chat is in flow, messages are aligned so you can scan the chat at a glance:
- Left side of the chat panel — responses from Companion.
- Right side of the chat panel — your own questions.
- Bottom side: Text field for follow-up questions.

💡Tips and Tricks for better responses:
- You can ask Companion in different languages and it will respond accordingly. ☝️Note that the KB source pages remain in English. The Companion response is translated “verbatim” and may differ from what you see in the Nimbus UI.
-
Ask in UI-specific terminology to get better answers, e.g.
"How do I configure a workflow for after-hours routing?"rather than"How does routing work?".

- Provide context. The Knowledge Assistant does not “see” your current Nimbus view or service data. It therefore helps to mention the Nimbus area you are working in (Workflows, Licenses, Tasks, Extensions, Reporting, Power BI, etc.) .
- Each Companion response displays a copy action icon below the message bubble that copies the response text to your clipboard so you can quickly reuse it in tickets, internal notes, or documentation:
- Follow up in the same chat — Companion keeps the context of the current chat, so you can follow-up with further questions.
Chat History
✅Full Screen view only: The left panel keeps a record of your past chats so you can return to them later.
- Sorted by most recent — chats are always sorted with the newest activity at the top. This includes been added to an older chat.
- Data Retention — the chat history is kept for a maximum of 30 days.
- Open a past thread — click any entry to re-open the chat and read through it.
- Search (in chat titles only) — use the search field to search within the last 30 days of chats.
- Rename — you can edit the automatically generated title of your past chats to make them easier to identify for later reference.

|
