Nimbus Companion Interface

AI chat interface allowing you to directly access Nimbus documentation

Nimbus Companion is your in-product AI-driven Knowledge Assistant. Instead of searching the Luware Knowledge Base manually, you can ask Companion a question directly inside the Nimbus Admin and User Portal and receive a focused answer drawn from official Nimbus documentation. Companion is capable of combining multiple concepts, giving you detailed instructions and source links whenever available, also answering in a different language on request. It is also capable of answering questions on Nimbus server status, including planned maintenance windows.

🔎For your orientation: This page describes the Companion Interface as it appears in Nimbus Admin Portal and User Portal. For other AI Service features, such as (Transcription, Summarization, Live Captioning, Codes and Tags suggestions), see Companion Service Settings.

BEFORE YOU START

💡The Companion Interface is available in both the Nimbus Admin Portal and the Nimbus User Portal. Each portal is enabled independently (see below) and stores the conversation history per user so the conversation can be continued on either page.

Tenant Admins: Enabling the Companion Interface

If the Companion icon is not yet visible, any tenant administrator can enable it:

  1. Within Nimbus Admin go to Extensions Tenant Settings.
  2. Locate the Companion Interface section.
  3. Enable the toggle for the portal(s) you want Companion available in — “Admin Portal and/or “User Portal”.

Once enabled:
⮑ … a "Companion" page becomes available in the main navigation area within the enabled portal(s).
⮑ … all users in the enabled portal can immediately refresh and start using the feature.

1☝️ Full-scope availability: Note that Companion availability cannot be scoped to specific roles, users or services. Once enabled in your Tenant, it is available to all users of the respective portal.
2💡 Localization: In the Nimbus User Portal the Companion Interface is fully localized  - Admin Portal remains English only. The Companion itself can also respond in other languages supported by the underlying AI model.

Using the Knowledge Assistant

View Modes

Companion offers two view modes so you can choose the layout that best fits your workflow. You can select either directly from the Companion button drop-down in the main menu:

  • Full Screen (default): Companion opens as a full-screen overlay within the Portal, showing both your conversation history and the active conversation. This is the standard view when you select Full Screen from the Companion button.
  • Split Screen: Companion is docked as a vertical panel anchored to the right edge of the window, with your current Nimbus page reflowing to fill the remaining space on the left. The panel spans the full height of the viewport and opens at a default width of 40%.
💡Persistence: The Split Screen state stays in place as you navigate between pages in the Nimbus application, keeping Companion's step-by-step guidance visible while you work.

Starting a Conversation

To start a conversation with Nimbus Companion:

  1. In Full Screen:
    1. Start a new conversation at any point by clicking the New conversation button.
    2. Type your question into the text field and submit it.
    3. Alternatively: Use a quick tile (pre-filled prompt with example topics) to start a new conversation — for example, “What new features are coming in in Nimbus”
  2. In Split Screen:
    1. Start a new conversation at any point by typing into the text filed, or use the quick tile.
⮑ Your previous conversation is preserved.
💡Switch to Full Screen to get a history of previous conversations.

During a Conversation

While the conversation is in flow, messages are aligned so you can scan the conversation at a glance:

  • Left side of the conversation panel — responses from Companion.
  • Right side of the conversation panel — your own questions.
  • Bottom side: Text field for follow-up questions.

💡Tips and Tricks

  • Each Companion response displays a copy action icon below the message bubble that copies the response text to your clipboard so you can quickly reuse it in tickets, internal notes, or documentation:
  • You can ask Companion in different languages and it will respond accordingly.
☝️Note that the KB source pages remain in English. The Companion response is translated “verbatim” and may differ from what you see in the Nimbus UI.
  • Ask in UI-specific terminology.  e.g. "How do I configure a workflow for after-hours routing?" rather than "Routing?".
  • Provide context. Companion does not “see” your current Nimbus view or data. It therefore helps to mention the Nimbus area you are working in (Workflows, Services, Reporting, Power BI, etc.) .
  • Follow up in the same conversation — Companion keeps the context of the current conversation, so you can follow-up with further questions.

Conversation History

✅Full Screen view only: The left panel keeps a record of your past conversations so you can return to them later.

  • Sorted by most recent — conversations are always sorted with the newest activity at the top. This includes been added to an older conversation.
  • Data Retention — the conversation history is kept for a maximum of 30 days.
  • Open a past thread — click any entry to re-open the conversation and read through it.
  • Search (in conversation titles only) — use the search field to search within the last 30 days of conversations.

Clearing the History

You can clean up conversations at any time, e.g. in case you don't need them anymore  Either select:

  • … the 3 dots on a historical entry and select “Delete”.
    OR
  • “Clear History” to clear the entire conversation history.

☝️Note that once cleared, history entries cannot be recovered.

Known Limitations

🔎By Design:

  • Companion uses AI to search Luware Knowledge Base. Responses may be inaccurate or incomplete - please verify critical information with official KB documentation.
  • Nimbus Companion Knowledge Assistant is limited to answering questions based on Nimbus Knowledge Base and Luware Services Status page. External sources will not be considered and any inquiries will rejected.

☝️Known limitations:

  • Answers are exclusively text-based - returning (generated or retrieved) images, screenshots, or other media from the Knowledge Base is not supported.
  • When editing any Nimbus Configuration entities, opening Companion will trigger an “Unsaved Changes” dialog. → If you click “Cancel” you can still continue with the configuration.
  • When switching between Full Screen and Split Screen, Companion sometimes switches to the default Nimbus “Overview” screen.
