Nimbus Companion Interface

AI chat interface allowing you to directly access Nimbus documentation

Nimbus Companion is your in-product AI-driven Knowledge Assistant. Instead of searching the Luware Knowledge Base manually, you can ask Companion a question directly inside and receive a focused answer drawn from official Nimbus documentation. Companion is capable of combining multiple concepts, giving you detailed instructions and source links whenever available, also answering in a different language on request. It is also capable of answering questions on Nimbus server status, including planned maintenance windows.

🔎For your orientation: This page describes the Companion Interface as it appears in Nimbus Admin. For the AI features running on a Nimbus service (Transcription, Summarization, Live Captioning, Codes and Tags suggestions), see Companion Service Settings.

BEFORE YOU START

💡Note that the Companion Interface is currently available in the Nimbus Admin Portal. A version for the Nimbus User Portal will be available with a later release.

Tenant Admins: Enabling the Companion Interface

If the Companion icon is not yet visible in Nimbus Admin, any tenant administrator can enable it:

  1. Within Nimbus Admin go to Extensions Tenant Settings.
  2. Locate the Companion Interface section.
  3. Enable the “Admin Portal toggle.

✅ Once enabled:
⮑ … a "Companion" icon becomes available in the main navigation area within the enabled portal(s).
⮑ … all users in Admin Roles can immediately refresh the portal and start using the feature. 💡Note that availability cannot be scoped to specific roles or users.

Using the Knowledge Assistant

Within Nimbus Admin: Locate and click "Companion" in the main menu.
⮑ The interface opens in full-screen mode and is split into two panels:

  • Left panel — your chat history with previous Companion conversations.
  • Right panel — your current conversation with Companion.

💡Note that these conversations are private to your user and will not be shared with other Nimbus users.

Starting a Conversation

To start a conversation with Nimbus Companion:

  1. Type your question into the text field at the bottom of the right panel and submit it.
  2. Start a new conversation at any point by clicking the New Chat button in the left panel. Your previous chat is preserved in history.
  3. Alternatively: Use a quick tile (pre-filled prompt with example topics) to start a new conversation — for example, "What new features are coming in in Nimbus"

During a Conversation

While the chat is in flow, messages are aligned so you can scan the conversation at a glance:

  • Left side of the chat panel — responses from Companion.
  • Right side of the chat panel — your own questions.
  • Bottom side: Chat window for follow-up questions.

Response Actions

Each Companion response displays a copy action icon below the message bubble that copies the response text to your clipboard so you can quickly reuse it in tickets, internal notes, or documentation:

💡Tips and Tricks

  • You can ask Companion in different languages and it will respond accordingly.
☝️Note that the KB source pages remain in English, so the Companion response wording may differ from what you see in the UI.
  • Ask concrete questions, e.g. "How do I configure a workflow for after-hours routing?" rather than "Routing?".
  • To narrow down answers, mention the Nimbus area you are working in (Workflows, Services, Reporting, Power BI, etc.) .
  • If the first answer is too broad, follow up in the same chat — Companion keeps the context of the current conversation.
  • Use Companion for "where is this setting", "what does this option do", and "what's the recommended approach for…" type questions.

Conversation History

The left panel keeps a record of your past conversations so you can return to them later.

  • Sorted by most recent activity — conversations are always sorted with the newest created activity at the top.
💡Note that adding new messages to an older chat thread does not currently reorder it to the top.
Each conversation displays a date/time label beneath its title, formatted according to your locale:
    • Today — displayed as Today <Time>
    • Yesterday — displayed as Yesterday <Time>
    • Older — displayed as <Date> <Time>
  • Retention — chat history is kept for a maximum of 30 days. Older threads roll off automatically.
  • Continuous scroll — scroll through the full list of threads in chronological order.
  • Open a past thread — click any entry to re-open the conversation and read through it.
  • Date divider within a thread — if you reopen a historical chat and continue typing new messages, a date divider is inserted to clearly separate earlier messages from today's new messages, keeping the timeline of the discussion easy to follow.
  • Search — use the search field at the top of the left panel to find a keyword or phrase across the last 30 days of chats. Results are sorted by most recent activity, with the newest threads appearing first.
💡Note that search results are matched from conversation titles, not the chat contents.
    • The search field is disabled if no chat history exists.
    • If no results are found, a "No conversation history" message is displayed.
  • Rename — customize conversation titles to better reflect the context of your chats.

Clearing the History

You can clean up previous conversations at any time, e.g. in case you don't need them anymore

☝️Note that once cleared, the history cannot be recovered.

  • By using the 3 dots on the historical entry you can delete individual conversation threads.
  • Via the "Clear History" you can also clear entire chat history .

Known Limitations
